I have left this space open for a long time, because River was special and sometimes saying nothing is easier than saying what happened. And because River is no longer with us. I'm not a Rainbow Bridge kind of gal. Accidents happen. We should have known better. He was a stupid dog sometimes. He was a dog and we loved him so so so much! Riv jumped our fence, he didn't jump fences, it just wasn't a thing of his, but he was taught and he took off with his little puppy-pal Cricket. We didn't make it hard enough for him. We should have expected that this could happen and protected him, but we didn't. It's so frustrating! We've solved the problem fortunately, but I sure wish I did it sooner (I'll explain what we did later). He was probably a once-in-a-lifetime dog, but it won't stop me from trying to get one just like him again someday. He was just 4 1/2 years of age, had completed his field championship, show championship, nearly had his grand championship, was a multiple award-winner and sired four beautiful litters. He was enjoying being a house dog and man do we miss him! Literally everything we do goes back to him and always will. He was a sweet gift from a stranger at the time, Robin Tomasi, a dear, sweet friend now. He has set our standard of what a Brittany should be, through and through. We will always miss him.
